Paper Number: 173086
173086 - Digitalization and Boosting Oil & Gas Equipment/bulk Material Inspection Around the World
The Inspection Department at TECNICAS REUNIDAS has advanced its digital capabilities through the Inspection Management Application (IMA).
This robust digital solution offers a desktop application and mobility app which enables the Company to optimize inspection activities and procedures, providing substantial advantages to Clients and supporting real-time decision-making and data sharing to improve artificial intelligence process in the company.
Inspection Management Application was initially developed to streamline the submission of inspection reports after completion of partial and final inspection activities for material across various project disciplines, such as Pressure Vessels, Rotating Equipment, Piping, Valves, Instrumentation, and Electrical equipment.
Because this digitalization solution efficiently connects all inspection stakeholders (Inspectors, Agencies, TECNICAS REUNIDAS Inspection Coordinators, Joint Venture Partners, Vendors, etc.) with Corporative applications, as a result, it saves time and reduces paperwork by eliminating manual bottlenecks, allowing inspectors to complete the reports before leaving the workshop. In addition, the quality of inspections has been improved through the prompt availability of contractual engineering and vendor documents to the Inspector.
Finally, the software implies that the Inspector´s focus shifts to input data, ensuring accuracy and completeness instead of the elaboration of the report, since IMA automatically generates the reports with the data introduced.
The TECNICAS REUNIDAS application was first presented last year at DTOG 2024 during the technical session on “Advancements in Computer Vision and AI-Driven Digital Inspection in the Oil & Gas Industry”. We would now like to share the latest improvements as well as the challenges encountered over the past year while implementing our digital solution for the new thrilling DTOG 2025.
This digital solution now enables innovative working methods within the Company, providing new opportunities for employees to leverage IMA data through corporate applications and software tools such as Power BI and Power Automate. These advancements contribute to enhancing the supply chain for TECNICAS REUNIDAS projects globally.
Moreover, thanks to our application, we have been able to detect duplicate billings that would have gone unnoticed without it. The digitalization of our processes has allowed us to analyze and identify these fraudulent situations effectively.
We have faced significant challenges imposed by the needs of new clients, and our digital tool has enabled us to meet their stringent requirements effectively. Furthermore, our clients have designated roles that enable them to access a range of benefits through our application, including up-to-date VENDOR documentation, purchase order specifications, and real-time insights regarding inspected materials via available inspection reports and flash report data.
Moreover, our joint venture collaborations with partner companies on various projects, which were not as advanced in digitalizing the inspection process as our Company, have also been a critical area where our solution has proven to be invaluable.
In conclusion, the Inspection Management Application (IMA) has effectively transitioned our company's inspection process from an analogue system to a fully digitized and optimized operation. This solution has eliminated manual inefficiencies, reduced turnaround times, enhanced inspection quality, and strengthened the supply chain for our global Oil & Gas Projects. Furthermore, the application is continuously adapted to address emerging challenges and evolving requirements in alignment with the demands of new projects and corporate processes.
Our company is on the road for a total digital transformation to boost and improve our skills, taking of the fact that our Company with 65 years experience in Oil & Gas Projects, and our IMA digital solution is a key component implementing new features, helping us to face new challenges, needs and requirements for the Oil & Gas sector which is undergoing a transformative digital revolution.
